Ballistics, as a forensic science’s discipline, constitutes means of evidence in criminal cases involving firearms. It is fundamental in trial, since it provides applied procedures for the identification of characteristic features, such as bullets, or firearms, in order to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of the ongoing criminal investigation. The court expert is obligated to perform its professional expertise by using all the necessary resources to collaborate with justice, in pursuit of the truth. In that sense, the present paper describes the procedures to determine if whether a bullet has been shot by a certain firearm, in case it presents malfunction while shooting. The expert’s work must also validate the molding method through the tests, so that in case they take part in a trial, the professional counts with basis to defend his work.Downloads
