The Domestic or intra-family violence in the comprehensive bill to prevent, punish and eradicate violence against women based on gender asymmetry

A key aspect of the issue of violence against women is that it takes place between four walls. A violence weighed down by indifference because many think: "...it doesn't happen to me,...it happens to the neighbor across the street", and in most cases "...until they come to ask me, I don't count because I don't want to get involved...”. The figures related to the number of cases, complaints and processes opened for domestic violence do not match the number of sentences emanating from the jurisdictional bodies, even if there is a civil law such as Law 1600/2000. Said regulatory body was created in an attempt to make the problem visible and achieve precautionary measures to protect the victim; and, as a punishable act in our criminal code (Law 1160/97), already with the punitive perspective with regard to violent behavior exercised in the family sphere against the person with whom one lives. Consequently, to speak of justice regarding domestic or intra-family violence is to speak today of a crime with a high level of impunity.
