This research article analyzes the official data published by the National Institute of Statistics on the labor market in Paraguay. In this regard, the study was based -mainly- on the latest permanent household survey (2017). For this purpose, a documentary type of research with a descriptive scope, qualitative approach and non-experimental design was carried out. It is worth mentioning that the data obtained and analyzed showed that the unemployment rate affected 5.43% of the population, i.e., around 188,000 people worked less than 30 hours during the week. In the first quarter of the year 2022, 194,621 are in the underemployed range. It is concluded that the labor scenario in Paraguay is characterized by a high rate of unemployment and underemployment, factors that - naturally - were much more pronounced with the health restrictions, as a consequence of the Covid 19 pandemic. These are associated with social inequality and lack of opportunities. It is also reflected in the migration of the population abroad, which historically has varied in terms of destinations.
