This paper contains an analysis of the main trends in documented cases of femicide in Paraguay, from 2016 to the first months of 2019. The objective was to obtain a greater understanding of the problem, in order to approach it more explicitly. The methodology used to get to the results was quantitative. Analysed data show steady increase of violent deaths of women. Approximately two thirds of the agressors were people who the victims were emotionally attached to. Almost a quarter of the agressors comitted suicide after the event. Between the year 2017 and the first part of 2019, more than one hundred sons and daughters lost their mother. 70 % of the victims were less than 40 years old and those who were less than 30 years old represent almost half of total cases. The attempted femicide cases exceeded largely the femicide cases. In two years more than 200 cases were documented.
