Violation of copyright or inventor: Public or private criminal action?

The current Code of Criminal Procedure of the Republic of Paraguay was sanctioned on June 18, 1998 and its entry into force was defined in that same regulatory body, one year after its promulgation. However, before the predetermined date in this new legislation, Law 1444/99 was sanctioned, precisely to regulate the transition period between the Criminal Procedure Code of 1890 and the full entry into force of Law 1286/98 (Procedural Code Penal). Through this transitory law, the article that defined the moment of entry into force of the current CPP was expressly left without effect and a progressive implementation regime was established, until the full validity of the new procedural law, set for March 1, 2000. Within the issues regulated in this gradual implementation regime, the power to apply certain institutes established in the new criminal procedure system to criminal cases in process that, at that time, were under the regime of the Code of Procedures Penalties of 1890.
